Wells, Moneyrea was the first well and looks most like a normal church mainly because it gathers altogether weekly on a Sunday morning. It is wide in age range and tries to offer stuff in the gatherings for all ages both together and in age groups. There is always a devotional time and a look at part of
the Bible. Tea and coffee are in there too. It feels genuinely like a family with people participating freely and coming and going in a relaxed and informal fashion.
April 08 saw the arrival of a new vision team so we are looking seriously at the call to be mission-shaped. We are considering the paragraph below and the shape has to change.
"In Computer-speak, applications will always go back to the default setting even if they have been temporarily altered. For a permanent change in how the computer responds, you have to change the default settings. The default of the church as we have known it tends to be set for pastoral care and
maintaining what we have. Sudden flurries into mission will always default back. Individual christians do not have, as a whole, "mission" as default in their thinking. That is not a point of blame, it is the result of history. But it is time to change the default of church life."
